Nothing like it used to be. I went in for the first time in over a year and was disgusted. I will never go back. The new people do not have the charm that the old place used to. It really is too bad. It used to be the best place in town.

HAnseat has the best almond croissant.

Reference to Mr Armstrong below. i now go to Superior bakery on hope Mills Road. They have same pasteries but there you can get two cheaper then just one at Hanseat plus they give you a free cup of coffee with your pasteries. the Highland Bakery also is outstanding. Mr Armstrong you need to go check them out. I did. i was gone overseas for a year and came back to find new owners at guenthers bakery and it has went down,so I found these two Bakerys which i buy at now. Bye Bye Hanseat. James Faircloth.

i find this bakery to be as fine as it can be, prices are comsurate with some of the less than quality bakeries around, the atmosphere is cordial and fun, i also find that someone has it out for them (see comments above), it's obviously someone wanting to see themselves in print. shameful and ignorant are just some of the description that fits IT.

Anyone that has EVER been involved in business knows that negative attention is the only sort you try to avoid.For paying customers to take their time out to write bad reviews really says something about how things are handled there,word of mouth is the most powerful word of all.To think that I go there to purchase my bread after hearing what evreryone has said makes me want to take my business elsewhere form now on.Too bad it was the best in twon once

What a sad little bakery this has become. I wish Guenther still owned it. I would then be able to still come in on Saturday mornings and enjoy coffee with many nice people. Without the new dirty owners messing that up. I like Superior bakery so much better. If anyone reads this, don't try Hanseat. Definitely go to Superior, its on Hope Mills Rd. They have much better service, and are much cleaner. Their baked goods and sweets are so much better quality for the price.

I would like to thank everyone for their comments on the bakery.Even the hateful ones. They say, any attention is better than none at all) Thank you for the good comments and the bad ones, that just gives us advice on improving the bakery. It used to take weeks before I would hear about something that wasn't right in the bakery(I spend most of my time in the back baking) I appreciate it when someone tells me so I can try to fix it.I would especially like to thank the regular customers who have been bringing their own pictures of Europe into the bakery and hanging them up on the walls

Worst Bakery I have ever been to! I will continue to go to Great Harvest Bread Co. from now on. At least they have a clean environment. Their customers can tell you every ingredient in their breads too. Not something you can say for Hanseat European Bakery. I will not go into this dirty, smoky, restaurant again.

No I'am NOT an employee or anything of the Hanseat BUT I do have to defend the bakery myself. I have been a customer for almost 8 years myself, I do not believe much changed since Guenter left. Bread and pasteries are still the same . I think they are all doing a good job and I will continue to buy my goodies from there .
I also have to agree with one of the other posters on here, I drive by the Bakery daily and the parking lot is always full . so you all tell me why?
Also I would like to disgree with some other posters on here, do you honestly believe that an employee of the hanseat posted their own good comments? I mean come on , that doesnt make a lot of of sense, If I would be pointing fingers I would point more to the other businesses who would love to get more new customers

I think its terribly sad the way this bakery has gone downhill. I have read all of the other comments. It seems to me that a few were posted by someone that works at the bakery. As no one else would really know such information as the baking schedule has been changed. People not involved with this bakery would not know. I was browsing the internet for a website on this bakery. A friend of mine a few months ago told me to try them out. I have decided now, after seeing the nonsense posted here. That it is not worth my time to visit a bakery in which an employee has to come online to defend the business from all of the bad remarks. If the people had not been to the bakery, how would they know the differences? I don't think someone would just make stuff up. Terribly bad business on behalf of the employee who keeps trying to negate the comments here, and turned out to make the bakery look even worse. Keep up the good work mystery worker!!!!

WE ALL LEFT AND WENT TO THE BAKERY ON CLIFFDALE ROAD THEY HAD CHAIRS TO SIT ON AT THERE TABLES AND THE FOOD WAS GOOD AS WELL. I WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO HANSEAT.

considering that the bakery has had new owners for only a month, I think it is doing very well,it has had the same baker for over six years so the breads and brotchen are the same as they have always been. they are trying to produce a little more so that people can come by in the afternoon and still have something to buy. in the past,if you didn't get there by eleven o'clock in the morning there wouldn't be anything left to buy. The new owners are still settling into it so I think they are doing well.

everything in the bakery seems better since they started baking overnight instead of the day before like they used to. In the interest of getting my bread and danishes when they are fresh, I can wait a few extra minutes in the morning for the brotchen to come out of the oven. Keep up the good work!

I went into this place a few days ago. Its rediculous how little the people know about their product. I like to know what i am going to be eating. If I ask a question. The Sales folk should know the answers. It is not a very inviting place to go. I would never pay the prices they are asking for the food they sell. I read the other reviews. They are all accurate. I will rather go to a grocery store to get pastrys.

I agree with the other comments. The woman at the front counter did not seem very nice. I did not feel I was in a clean envirment. I have been their a few times before and it was not like it is now. I will not be going into this bakery again. I was very disappointed in the service. I speak fluent German. I was told this was a place I could go to speak with others who also spoke german. Not one person in the place could understand what I was saying. Dirty, not welcoming, and not german. End of story.

I am not impressed. I will stick to my regular bakery in the town of fayetteville. I found their prices to be very high. Seeing that the quality of their food in my opinion was not very good. I will probably try again. Hopefully that was a bad day. It did not seem very clean. It was irritating that so much smoking was going on. I will give them another chance. I hope it is not as bad as my prior visit.

Ever since they changed owners, I will not go inside of this place. Their product has changed. They do not have the friendly old world German Atmosphere that they used to. I was not a very regular customer, but some things definately have changed since the old owner left. They used to have the best baked goods in Fayetteville. Now, I don't think I will ever go in there again.
